McGuire’s Irish Pub - Bread Pudding
Ingredients
1 Loaf Bread (French or Crusty Style), Bakery
4 Cups Milk, Rear Left - Milk
3 Large Eggs, Rear Center - Eggs
1½ cups Granulated Sugar, Aisle 3 - Sugar
2 Tbsps Pure Vanilla Extract, Aisle 3 - Spices & Extract
1 Cup Raisins, Aisle 6 - Dried Fruit & Trail Mix
3 Tbsps Butter, Melted, Unsalted, Rear Center - Butter & Margarine
Steps
1. Preheat the oven to 350°.
2. Tear the bread into large chunks and place in a large bowl. Pour the milk over the bread and allow it to soak until the milk has completely absorbed (about 30 minutes).
3. Combine the eggs, sugar, and vanilla and beat well.
4. Fold the egg mixture thoroughly into the soaked bread. Stire in the Fruits.
5. Grease a 9” × 13” baking pan with melted butter. Pour in the bread mixture, spreading it evenly. Bake until the budding is brown and firm (about 30 minutes).
The recipe starts with a loaf of crusty bread broken into large chunks.
Here we have the bread pudding after coming out of the oven. The milk-soaked bread was covered in the egg/sugar/vanilla/rasin mixture prior to baking.
McGuire’s Irish Pub - Whiskey Sauce
Ingredients
1 Cup Granulated Sugar, Aisle 3 - Sugar
½ Cup Butter, Unsalted (1 stick), Rear Center - Butter & Margarine
½ Tsp Vanilla Extract, Aisle 3 - Spices & Extract
½ Cup Heavy Cream, Rear Left - Milk
¼ Cup Irish Whiskey
Steps
1. While the pudding is baking, combine the sugar, butter, vanilla, and cream in a sauce pan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes.
2. Stir in the whiskey and cook until some of the alcohol has cooked off and the flavors are blended, about 4 minutes.
3. Cover the bread pudding with the sauce.
